The Bernard L. Schwartz Senior Fellowship in Business and Foreign Policy
The Bernard L. Schwartz Senior Fellowship in Business and Foreign Policy was established in 2002 with a gift from the Bernard and Irene Schwartz Foundation. The fellowship focuses on the global integration of financial markets and their significance for U.S. economic and foreign policy.
Bernard L. Schwartz (1925–2024)
Bernard L. Schwartz became a member of CFR in 2003. He was the chairman and chief executive officer of BLS Investments, LLC, a private investment firm. Schwartz retired in 2006 after thirty-four years as chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Loral Space & Communications, a New York Stock Exchange–listed manufacturer of satellites and satellite systems. Over the years, Schwartz was recognized for his views and counsel on matters ranging from economic growth and industrial policy to technology and national security—views that generally challenged conventional wisdom and provided a basis for numerous speeches, white papers, and testimony to private research institutions, educators, and congressional committees.
